Our legal basis for processing the personal data;

  • We have a legal basis for processing data in order to fulfil our contractual agreements with our clients and staff.
  • Any other data is only processed when there is a legitimate interest for either party.

How do we store the information we collect;

  • All physical data is kept in a secure office or in locked cabinets in a secure location.
  • All digital data is kept on a protected computer system and backed-up on a digitally encrypted and secure device.
  • Bank Details are collected and used on a one off basis at the time of need and will be securely destroyed immediately following the transaction.

Where we are asking you for sensitive personal data, we will always tell you why and how the information will be used.

Charitable Organizations Take donations collected a funeral service. To send an acknowledgement, thanking you for any donations received.
Local Authority Operate Cemeteries and Crematoriums To process the application for burial or cremation.

 

Caterer Provides food for a funeral reception If they need to contact you to discuss your catering requirements.
Third Party Suppliers Supply goods To contact you regarding to an order you have placed
Funeral Zone LTD Online Obituary To contact you regarding the obituary ownerships and for reviews of our services
Golden Charter Funeral Plan Provider To fulfil their contractual agreements when a funeral plan is purchased.

We may also share your information with third parties in order to fulfil our contractual obligations to you; these may include, but are not limited to,

Our policy regarding the retention of your personal information.

J W Binks Funeral Directors retains the following information indefinitely.

Customer records may be kept for future reference; we have a legitimate interest in keeping these records for reference in regards to future funerals for the same families. We also have legal grounds for keeping personal information, concerning pre-paid funeral plans, in order to fulfil our contractual obligations to our clients.

Your right to be informed

Individuals have the right to be informed about the collection and use of their personal data.

Your right of access (subject access request)

You have the right to request a copy of any physical or digital personal data we hold on you.

Your right to rectification

You have the right to request a correction to any personal data we hold on you that is incorrect.

Your right to be forgotten (right to erasure)

You have the right to request the destruction of any personal information we hold on you if it is deemed no longer reasonable for us to hold onto the data for any legitimate purpose.

Requests can be made verbally but we recommend request be made in writing or via email. We have 30 days to respond to any request.
